Anna Begins Filming ‘Cake’

Anna is one busy girl – after a week at SNL in NYC, Anna is back in L.A. straight to her brand new film Cake, which stars and is produced by Jennifer Aniston. Anna plays Nina, a woman who (spoiler alert!) commits suicide. Anna looked totes adorbs on her first day of shooting, stopping by the craft services table for a healthy brunch.

Anna Hosts Saturday Night Live

Anna rocked Saturday Night Live last night (April 5th), hosting for her first time ever at the famed Rockefeller center in NYC. From her epic Beauty and the Beast sing-a-long monologue, Southern Obamacare sufferette, Ariel the Little Mermaid singing Kesha, Nasty Girl singing about dongs, and Eurotrash French waitress singing, dancing, and “cupping,” Anna totally proved how talented and–bare with me–Versatile she is.

If you are an international fan and can’t view the video, here is a list of download links.

When I started this site back in ’07, I always knew Anna was super talented and funny; I knew she’d make a great SNL host some day but still can’t believe that day is here and am so glad someone gave her this chance!

Watch Anna Kendrick Steal Every Single ‘Saturday Night Live’ Scene

The actress was pitch perfect from start to finish in her first turn as host in Studio 8H.

Pharrell Williams may have been the musical guest in this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” episode, but host Anna Kendrick stole the spotlight, carrying a ditty during her opening monologue and then keeping the tunes coming through sketches that included ’90s raps and childhood favorite Disney songs.

She Really Is A Funny Girl
Kendrick opened the evening so excited to host she could only truly express her feelings through song. Expanding on her musical-theatre background, the “Pitch Perfect” star launched into her own version of the classic “Little Town” from “Beauty and the Beast.” Other “SNL” castmates chimed in as she ran through a tour of the set, stopping for hair and makeup touch-ups and disturbing a distracted Lorne Michaels before the entire cast gathered onstage to belt out the final introductory notes of a what she called a “magical exciting show.”

The Dong Song
Veering from kid-approved tunes, Kendrick appeared as a hot pink fishnet-wearing ’90s vixen in a crew of other “SNL” women on an international mission. “Dongs All Over the World” put Ludacris’ hoes in different “Area Codes” to shame, as the ladies sang about their plan to do every dong in the world, from the pyramids of Giza to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Kendrick showed off her rapping skills while Icona Pop made a cameo onboard the airplane, dressed as the pilots steering the sexual conquest.

Part Of The ‘SNL’ World
Kendrick went under the sea for this sketch, wearing a long red wig and mermaid fins as Ariel in “The Little Mermaid.” Aidy Bryant was a convincing Ursula, who wanted to steal Ariel’s voice, but she didn’t exactly get what she was hoping to hear. Kendrick sang a slew of Top 40 hits from pop princesses, starting with Kesha’s “We R Who We R” and reeling off Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” and Selena Gomez’s “Come And Get It” before ending with a little Iggy Azalea and “Fancy.” We’d be lying if we said we didn’t also enjoy Jay Pharoah’s appearance as Jamaican-accented crab Sebastian, who shined in his solo interpretation of Sean Paul’s “Temperature.” Aca-awesome job, Anna! {mtv.com}

Casting News: Anna joins ‘Cake’

Anna has signed up to act in Cake! The indie stars Jennifer Aniston, who also produces.

Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick, Chris Messing join new movie Cake

A host of stars including Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick and Chris Messina have reportedly joined Jennifer Aniston on new indie movie Cake.

According to The Wrap, Felicity Huffman, William H Macy, Britt Robertson, Lucy Walters, Camille Mana, Manuel Garcia Rulfo and Marianne Jean-Baptiste will also appear.

Aniston is executive producer on the project and also plays the main character Claire Simmons, a woman who becomes fascinated by Nina, a woman in her chronic pain support group.

Simmons must face her own personal tragedy when she discovers Nina’s suicide and develops a relationship with Nina’s husband.

Cake is written by Patrick Tobin and directed by Daniel Barnz, who revealed that he is “the biggest” Aniston fan.

Barnz said in a statement: “Of the zillions of Jennifer Aniston fans, I might be the biggest one of all. I’ve especially loved her more dramatic performances, and I can’t wait to watch her tackle a role that has such a brilliantly funny voice and so much raw pain (hats off to writer Patrick Tobin).” {digitalspy.com}

Casting News: “Table 19”

I just picked up some casting news that seemed to have gone under the radar. A few sites reported back in November that Anna was attached to a film called “Table 19″. The comedy, centered around a wedding, was reported to be in pre-production back in 2011 with director Jeffrey Blitz, Anna’s Rocket Science director. Tina Fey and Steve Carrell were also in talks to join. Anna would play Eloise, who ends up the ‘losers’ table after “being removed from her maid-of-honor position following her break-up with the wedding’s best man.” We’ll see if anything moves forward with this film.

Anna Kendrick Books Herself A Seat At “Table 19″

Anna Kendrick will star in the wedding comedy TABLE 19, with an offer out to Steve Carell and interest in Tina Fey to join as well.

The film plays on the a situation we’ve all been in before – being stuck at the ragtag “leftovers” table of single people at a wedding. Kendrick will play Eloise, who ends up at said table after being removed from her maid-of-honor position following her break-up with the wedding’s best man. If they join the film, Carrell and Fey would play a bickering and dysfunctional couple. I think I speak for most of the world when I say I’m a big fan of these three and can’t wait to see the film come together. Mark and Jay Duplass wrote the script and were originally on board to helm as well before Jeffrey Blitz took over directing duties.

Shawn Levy and Tom McNulty will produce.

Kendrick has recently starred in “End of Watch”, “Pitch Perfect” and “Drinking Buddies” and will next appear in “The Last Five Years” and “Get a Job.”

“Office” alum Carell was most recently in “The Way, Way Back” and lent his voice to “Despicable Me 2.” He can next be seen in “Foxcatcher” and in the comedy sequel “Anchorman: The Legend Continues.”

With “SNL” and “30 Rock” behind her, Fey last appeared in “Admission” and can next be seen in “Muppets Most Wanted” and “This is Where I Leave You.”

Kendrick is repped by CAA while Carell and Fey are with WME. {tracking-board.com}

Shawn Levy to produce Fox Searchlight comedy

“Spellbound” director Jeffrey Blitz is negotiating to direct laffer “Table 19″ for Fox Searchlight.

Shawn Levy will produce through his 21 Laps banner.

Pic, written by Jay and Mark Duplass, originally had the duo attached to helm.

Described as a singles-at-the-wedding pic, the ensemble comedy follows a group of strangers who meet at the “losers” table at a wedding. Told from their perspective, the story explores what marriage means to those on the sidelines.

Blitz’s directing credits on the TV side include “The Office” and MTV pilot “Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous.”

He also directed docu “Lucky,” released last year.

Levy’s also had a busy year. The multihyphenate recently signed on to direct “The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto,” written by Michael Vukadinovich, for 20th Century Fox. He’s also attached to helm the Max Landis-penned “Frankenstein” for Fox and Davis Entertainment.

Fox-based 21 Laps is also shooting “Neighborhood Watch” in Atlanta and is producing the Michael Sucsy-helmed “Rosaline.”

Blitz is repped by CAA. {variety.com}
